Our Team - Stan Josey
Stan Josey is a Senior Advisor with Municipal Solutions. Until recently, Stan was a senior municipal government reporter for the Toronto Star in Durham Region.
Over a 33-year career at The Star Stan has covered the political scene and more across the GTA and throughout the province. He has been front and centre for a number of groundbreaking events such as the creation of regional government, the creation of the new amalgamated City of Toronto, the establishment of the community college system, and many others.
During a 40-year-plus journalism career, he has held a variety of increasingly responsible media positions throughout the province. He was supervisor of media relations for TV Ontario in its formative years before being hired by The Star as an education and municipal affairs reporter.
He successively was posted to cover municipal government for The Star in City of Toronto, Scarborough, North York, and then Durham Region where he served as Bureau Chief for many years.
As sidelines Stan also served as the Star’s resident Toronto Zoo and Nuclear Energy expert.
In recent years, he was a member of the Star’s new GTA newsroom, which attempted to focus more attention on the thriving communities on Toronto’s doorstep.
Stan has extensive contacts and friends throughout the GTA and the province and looks forward to providing the best form of communication between all levels of government, private enterprise and the public.
Stan is a native of the Ottawa Valley where he received his early education. He then spent several years covering education in Kingston and Ottawa, becoming one of the most trusted education reporters in the province.
He was a proponent of and covered the growth of the province’s community college system in the 1960’s. Ironically, he was also present when the province announced the establishment of the first new institute of higher learning in many years--University of Ontario Institute of Technology at Durham College, a logical and needed extension of the community college system.
Stan looks forward to providing the best form of communication between all levels of government, private enterprise and the public.
