Our Team - John Mutton

John Mutton is the President and CEO of Municipal Solutions and is currently working on leading edge developments and in several downtown redevelopments.

John Mutton has extensive experience in the development industry, municipal policy, nuclear industry, energy sector and with conservation authorities. Prior to founding Municipal Solutions, John was the Mayor of the Municipality of Clarington where he was instrumental in establishing Clarington as the preferred site for nuclear newbuild. John also was the Chairman of Finance and Administration for the Region of Durham where he dealt successfully with many development projects that provided for job growth and industrial assessment increases. John was essential in eliminating the large industrial tax class that was unfavorable to General Motors of Canada and upon the elimination of the large industrial tax class landed the new Camaro line at GM Oshawa. As Chairman of the Canadian Association of Nuclear Host Communities, John dealt with the Nuclear Waste Management Office, providing a position on behalf of all Canadian Nuclear Host Communities regarding the long-term storage of medium and high level radioactive waste. As Chairman of Veridian Corporation, John successfully expanded the customer base of the corporation by obtaining several small to medium sized utilities. Finally, as Chairman of the Ganaraska Conservation Authority, John integrated the Provincial Oak Ridges Moraine legislation, the Greenbelt Protection Act and other initiatives to many local official plans.

John Mutton has represented Canada internationally as a member of ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor) Team Canada and was a part of Premier McGuinty's trade mission to China in 2005. John has studied Economics at Trent University, Carleton University and the University of Toronto.

John recently graduated with an Executive Masters in Municipal Management from the University Of Ontario Institute Of Technology.
